Animal is a name you don’t normally give to a restaurant, but for two Florida natives, the name simply struck. Today, Animal is one of the top restaurants in Los Angeles after being opened in 2008. Its menu is meat-centric, which explains the name. The restaurant doesn’t cater to the health conscious. It is simply for people who want flavorful food, nothing more, nothing less.
You don’t go to Animal just to keep your daily calorie count in check. You go here to enjoy the food such as its chicken liver toast, marrow bone, Wagyu Carpaccio, and Jack Rabbit Larb, among others.
But it doesn’t mean that you can’t have some greens here. Check out its market lettuce salad with green garlic Caesar and sprinkled with bread crumbs and idyllwild cheese. Or its Mexican street corn with epazote and parmesan.
If it is meat dishes you’re looking for, you won’t get disappointed here. Order the crispy duck leg and you will love how tender the skin of the duck leg is. Or the spicy beef tendon chips with charred onion, with the crispy and crunchy texture of chicharrones satisfying your taste buds. Other best sellers are chicken liver roast and snake river Wagyu beef carpaccio.
