Located right by the lobby of Santa Monica’s luxurious Viceroy Hotel, the Cameo Bar is resplendent in a tasteful, candle-lit retro-glam design by Kelly Wearstler that evokes the cocktail lounges of the 1950s and a perfect place for a cocktail by the pool or a cigar and a Scotch on the rocks on the patio. Happy Hour is Monday through Friday from four in the afternoon until seven, during which time you can enjoy hearty food, delicious sangria or signature cocktails priced between five and ten dollars.
Copa D’Oro’s mission statement has been to provide quality cocktails made with fresh produce from local farmers as well as quality products from around the world. The spirits used to make their drinks, ie Famous Grouse Scotch whisky and Partida Blanco tequila are exquisite indeed, and among the unique cocktails you will encounter at Copa D’Oro include the Disaffinity, consisting of Jameson Irish whiskey, extra dry vermouth, Amaro Averna, Angostura and orange bitters; the Texas Tornado, made with Vida mezcal, Campari, fresh lime & orange juices & pasteurized egg whites; and the Handsome Jack Rose, a cocktail of luxurious Darroze Bas Armagnac 1978, fresh lime juice and grenadine.
This is a place with some serious history, as back in the 1930s, this very spot was a speakeasy run by Will Rogers and Doc Law, who used a neighboring pharmacy as a front for their business. Through the years, legends such as Marilyn Monroe would stop in for drinks. These days, it is pretty likely that you will see a famous face stop in at the Hideout, but in actual fact, this place is one of the more laid-back watering holes in the Greater Los Angeles Area, with literally something for everyone and a fun event for every night of the week, ranging from karaoke, mixer parties, acoustic nights and wine tastings. As if you thought it couldn’t get more accommodating, there is also a heated outdoor smoking patio.
Located right on the coast, this fun spot offers a gorgeous view of the Pacific from its patio in addition to its innovative Asian fusion cuisine. Among the delights to be had are the Baja California roll, which features jalapenos stuffed with crab and tempura-fried; and the Asian Chicken soup, flavored with coconut, lemongrass and Thai chili peppers. The Ma’Kai Lounge also features some unique desserts, such as the Kona Coffee Sundae, which consists of homemade vanilla bean ice cream topped with whipped cream & a shot of kona espresso, and the Mango Ice Cream Sandwich, made with homemade mango ice cream between two white chocolate macadamia nut cookies.
The ambiance of this establishment, delicately balanced between lounge and nightclub, complete with a DJ and/or the occasional live band, makes it a popular place to party, and it’s no surprise that Schmoozd, a company specializing in professional social networking would choose to host events sponsored by StartEngine here. The bar is stocked with such top-shelf liquors as Hennessy VS cognac, Johnny Walker Black Label Scotch whisky Bombay Sapphire gin and Don Julio tequila. Of course, the standout drink on the cocktail menu is the Ginger Mint Margarita, made with tequila, Canton ginger liqueur, muddled mint, lime juice and a dash of simple syrup. If you are craving a late-night bite, you have your choice of sliders, chicken wings, French fries, tacos, quesadillas and more.
