The Brandy Alexander is a classic cocktail that is indulgent to say the least. Consisting of equal parts cognac, crème de cacao, and milk or cream, chilled and topped with finely grated nutmeg, cinnamon and/or chocolate, it can be drunk as a dessert drink, or used to coat the stomach before a long night of imbibing.
I would also venture to say that if one wanted, one could make the recipe a little more interesting. You could add a splash of triple sec to fruit it up a little bit. A little Kahlua or Tia Maria could make for a slight mocha effect. If you like a chocolate and coconut combination, a smidgen of Malibu would work well. If you wanted a slightly nutty flavor, throw in a little amaretto, nocino or noisette.
However, perhaps the ultimate experiment would be to add a little amaretto and a splash of honey liqueur and top of the drink with a finely ground mix of almonds and milk chocolate. Voila! A Toblerone in cocktail form!
