How We Obtain Emails

How We Obtain Emails

We’re beyond excited to introduce WeeklyHap, our brand-new social newsletter! This weekly email is designed to keep you in the loop with the latest happenings, fresh ideas, and all things community.

While we’ve been hyped about its launch, we’ve noticed one question popping up again and again in our inboxes: “How did you get my email?”. Well, friends, we’re here to set the record straight.

The answer is simple and straightforward. There are three main ways we gather emails for our mailing list, and we’d love to break them down for you.

Let’s take a moment to reflect on one of our memorable early-day events!

How We Gathered Your Email

We collect emails in transparent and easy-to-understand ways that prioritize your consent and interest!

1. Event Attendees – via Friends or Bulk Tickets

If you’ve attended one of our infamous Schmoozd events, there’s a strong chance that’s how your email came to us. Maybe a friend snagged you a ticket as a guest or your company purchased passes for the whole team, listing your email in the process. Either way, you got to experience some pretty unique vibes!

For those who don’t know, Schmoozd is the second-largest offline social networking event in Los Angeles, yep, since 2009. We’ve been bringing people together for amazing experiences like bar crawls, panel talks, rooftop dinners, pitch nights, game nights, summits… you name it, we’ve probably done it. With 14 years of hosting these events (and counting!), it’s only natural that a bunch of emails have made their way into our world.

2. Direct Website Subscriptions

We love knowing that some of you are already part of our tribe because you willingly signed up through our website. Maybe it was for event updates, fresh content, or just to be in the know, whatever the reason, we’re thrilled you subscribed!

While it’s possible the memory of hitting that signup button may have faded, we keep it transparent and make sure each email sent reflects the value we aim to deliver.

3. Event Collaborations

Over the years, Schmoozd has co-hosted countless events in partnership with other brands and teams. When these collaborations happen, it’s common to share attendee lists among partners to expand our reach and keep the good vibes rolling. This collaborative magic often introduces new people like you into our community, creating room for even more connections and ideas.

And fret not, we’re not about sending random, irrelevant emails to flood your inbox. Every name on our list serves a purpose tied to our events, mission, or shared goals of fostering meaningful engagement.

How We Obtain Emails

Our Email Tool: Beehiiv

To keep things streamlined and professional, we use Beehiiv as our trusted platform for all email communications. It’s an awesome tool that helps us craft engaging, well-designed emails while managing our subscriber lists efficiently. The best part? Beehiiv enables us to follow legitimate email processes, ensuring everything we do aligns with proper terms and conditions.

Your privacy and trust are incredibly important to us, so we make sure to comply with all relevant laws and guidelines, like the CAN-SPAM Act. Beehiiv helps us stay accountable by providing top-notch features for tracking permissions, managing opt-outs, and ensuring only relevant emails get sent your way. With Beehiiv, you can feel confident knowing we’re serious about keeping things professional and respectful in your inbox!

You’re in Control

We believe that community is built on trust, and part of that trust means giving you control. That’s why every email we send comes with a handy unsubscribe option at the bottom.

Don’t want to be part of WeeklyHap? No problem, we totally get it (though you might miss out on some epic updates). The only people we want in our community are those who genuinely love being here, because nothing great grows from complaints and negativity.

Closing Thoughts

At the end of the day, our goal with WeeklyHap is simple: to keep you connected, informed, and inspired. Whether you’re a long-time Schmoozd attendee, a website subscriber, or someone new to our orbit through a collaboration, we’re so grateful to have you on this journey with us.

Here’s to more shared laughs, cool events, and exciting discoveries. Welcome to the WeeklyHap family, together, we’ll keep the fun rolling one email at a time!

Want to stick around? Great! Want out? That’s cool too. Whatever you choose, we’re just happy you gave us a chance.

John
