In 2024, Schmoozd partnered with StartupCoil to launch demodayLA, an exciting and experimental public demo day designed to spotlight the most innovative and promising tech startups in Los Angeles. The event brought together entrepreneurs, investors, and tech enthusiasts for a day of live pitches, networking, and inspiration.

To our surprise, it was a success, drawing a large crowd and creating buzz across the local tech community. The positive feedback we received motivated us to start planning early, and we’re already gearing up to make demodayLA 2025 even bigger, better, and more impactful.

demodayLA Background

The vision for demodayLA was to create an independent demo day—a public stage for Los Angeles’ tech and startup community. Think of it as a scaled-down CES, but focused on showcasing innovation across the entire spectrum of technology rather than just electronics.

Traditionally, demo days are hosted within the structured environments of startup accelerators or venture capital fund operations, often limited to their own selected cohorts. These events typically exclude broader audiences, creating a somewhat closed ecosystem for startups.

With demodayLA, we set out to break that mold entirely. This event offered an open stage where anyone with a compelling, innovative idea could step up, pitch their vision, and showcase their startup. There were no restrictions based on affiliation or insider connections—just a celebration of innovation and ambition. Entrepreneurs, developers, and creators gained the opportunity to present their ideas to a diverse audience that included investors, potential collaborators, and other members of the startup ecosystem.
